How can residents abroad travel to Mallorca during covid and current restrictions?

According to the Balearic Islands Tourism Agency, to travel to the Balearic capital from any other foreign country, thus overcoming the airport’s health controls, international passengers must meet only two requirements:

  1. Fill in a sanitary control form. It is a document that you can easily fill out electronically.

      – If it is a PCR or TMA test, the validity of the certificate will be valid for up to 72 hours. It is the most recommended test.
      – If it is an antigen test, the certificate will be valid for up to 48 hours. Note: as an extra security measure, in the case of travelers from the United Kingdom, this type of quick test will not be accepted, only PCR or TMA.
    3. In case of presenting a recovery certificate that certifies having passed the disease, the test will only be valid if the disease has been overcome within the six months prior to the trip to Mallorca. In addition, this type of document is not allowed for passengers coming from the United Kingdom, due to the high number of infections that the country passes through.

How to travel to Mallorca in times of covid-19? Guide and tips

National tourism

The reduction of infections in Spain has allowed the relaxation of health controls to travel between their territories. Therefore, residents in Spain will no longer have to submit any form when traveling to any other autonomous community.

However, does this same rule apply in all cases? Also when traveling between islands? We explain it below.

How can residents of Spain travel to Mallorca in time of covid? As we have already commented, in the cases of national tourism, two different situations are considered: one for those who come from the Spanish mainland and another for those who travel between islands. Let’s see each of them:

Residents at the mainland

What document or accreditation is needed to be able to travel to Mallorca?

Since last November 1, there are no requirements to travel to Mallorca for those who reside anywhere in Spain, according to information from the Tourism Strategy Agency of the Balearic Islands.

This means that they will not have to pass any extraordinary measure, such as filling in the health control form, presenting the EU Covid Certificate or a PCR test with a negative result.

So, what are the requirements to travel to Mallorca during covid-19?

Although you do not need to fill out forms or present accreditations, as is customary in this new post-covid era, you will have to wear a face mask, both inside the airport and throughout the flight. Once at your destination, you just have to follow the current regulations of each territory depending on how the pandemic is controlled.

In summary, these are currently the keys to travel to Mallorca from national territory:

Before the trip:

  • It is not necessary to carry a negative PCR test or antigen test.
  • It is not necessary to present the vaccination card or the European passport.
  • Face mask mandatory inside the airport and during the flight.

Once in Mallorca:

  • Face mask mandatory in public transport and Mascarilla obligatoria en transportes públicos and generally inside: bus, shops, etc.
  • Recommended to wear a face mask outside but it is not mandatory.
  • Respect the safety distance between people and avoid crowds.

Now let’s go on to analyze the other possible case: mobility between islands.

Requirements to travel between islands

In the case of visitors coming to Mallorca from other Spanish island territories, such as Menorca, Ibiza or La Palma, they must meet the same requirements as for other national travelers, as well as comply with current health measures.

This means that the requirements to travel to Mallorca from other islands, before and during the trip, are:

  • Face Mask mandatory during the flight and inside the airport.
  • It is not necessary to fill in any health control form.
  • It is not necessary to have a negative PCR.
  • Nor is it necessary to carry the vaccination card or the European passport.

Once in Mallorca, visitors must comply with the security measures established throughout the national territory, such as using a face mask in public and interior transport such as shops, etc. Outdoors it is not mandatory to wear a mask, but it is recommended, except in those areas where the distance of 1.5 meters between pedestrians cannot be ensured.

As a resident of the Balearic Islands, is it possible to get a covid test in Mallorca?

Of course! Fortunately, the Health Service of the Balearic Islands has a network of points, called “Covid Exprés”, through which tourists and residents can undergo an antigen test without having to have a prior appointment booked.

These points are spread over different areas of the island. Specifically, these are the three Covid Exprés de Mallorca points enabled for residents:

COVID EXPRÉS SON DURETA
Address: Calle Andrea Doria, 55. 07014, Palma.
Shedule: From Monday to Sunday from 8.00 h – 19.30 h

COVID EXPRÉS INCA
Address: Museu del Calçat, Avenida del General Luque. 07300, Inca.
Shedule: From Monday to Sunday from 8.00 h – 19.30 h

COVID EXPRÉS MANACOR
